U.S. Congressional Delegation Highly Values Progress in Cambodia-U.S. Relations
On the afternoon of 26 September 2025, at the Peace Palace, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from a United States Congressional delegation led by His Excellency Adam Smith, Congressman from Washington State, who was accompanied by His Excellency Michael Baumgartner, Congressman from Washington State, and Her Excellency Chrissy Houlahan, Congresswoman from Pennsylvania.
During the meeting, His Excellency Adam Smith expressed his pleasure at meeting Samdech Borvor Thipadei and conveyed his profound gratitude to Samdech Borvor Thipadei for taking time from his busy schedule to receive him and the delegation. The U.S. Congressional delegation highly valued the progress in Cambodia-U.S. relations and emphasised that their visit was aimed at contributing to the further strengthening of bilateral ties. The delegation also commended Cambodia’s success in economic development.
In response, Samdech Borvor Thipadei warmly welcomed the U.S. Congressional delegation on their visit to Cambodia. He expressed his satisfaction with the growth of relations and the good cooperation between the two countries across many sectors, as well as the engagement between their respective private sectors.
Samdech Borvor Thipadei and the U.S. Congressional delegation also discussed and exchanged views on exploring new opportunities and promoting cooperation in key areas, including the economy, investment, national defence, security and education.
Regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border issue, Samdech Borvor Thipadei expressed his gratitude to His Excellency President Donald J. Trump for facilitating a swift ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, which saved many lives. He also updated the U.S. Congressional delegation on the latest developments in the Cambodia-Thailand border situation and underscored Cambodia’s position on resolving border issues with Thailand peacefully, based on existing bilateral agreements, conventions, treaties and international law.
